Current Leadership
The Agency operates under the leadership of Malick Maachi, Founding Managing Director of the Agency and members of the Restructuring Board of the Alliance who will conduct the operation of the Agency until the public election of the first Managing Director.

​Founding Managing Director
Malick Maachi is the Founding Managing Director of the Agency, the Chairman of the Restructuring Board of the Alliance and the Managing Director of Nektar.
Mr Maachi assumed office as the Founding Managing Director in July 2020. In October 2021, upon taking office as the Chairman of the Agency, Mr Maachi pressed ahead with the creation of initiatives to finance the creation innovation hubs in the territory of African and Latin American states.

Mr Maachi was re-appointed as Managing Director of the Agency in July 2022 when the Agency became a specialised agency of the Alliance to lead the design of the technical and operational infrastructure of the Alliance and to lead the transition of the Agency from a specialized agency of the Alliance to an international financial institution.

Mr Maachi's initiatives are becoming key drivers for sustainable education and economic growth and change for youth in low income countries. He is recognized for his work with the Alliance where he oversees the financing of youth education and sports Academies, as the Founding Managing Director of the Agency, where he leads the creation of the first international financial institution dedicated to bitcoin adoption and for creating the first Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) to govern an international organization.
Mr Maachi is a French and Canadian citizen born in Dakar, Senegal. Mr Maachi spent his early years living around the world, has received his education in France and Canada and has gained his expertise in investment banking, technology, finance and international relations through entrepreneurship.

Governance Structure
Following its transition, the Agency will have a Board of Governors, an Executive Board, a Chairman of the Executive Board, a Managing Director.
The Nektar DAO and its members will have for responsability the governance of the Agency on specific matters.
Board of Governors
The Board of Governors consists of one Governor (usually the Minister of Finance) appointed by each member who serves until a new appointment is made. The Board of Governors selects one of the Governors as Chairman of the Board of Governors and delegates to the Executive Board authority to exercise most of its powers.
Executive Board
The Executive Board is comprised of twelve (12) Executive Directors who are not Governors. They are responsible to conduct the general operations of the Agency and, exercise all the powers given to them by the Board of Governors.
Managing Director
The Managing Director of the Agency is appointed by members of the Nektar DAO (the general public) according to a four (4) year term. The Managing Director, as the chief of the operating staff of the Agency is under the direction of the Executive Board and is responsible for the organization, appointment and dismissal of officers and staff of the Agency.

The Managing Director is assisted by a team appointed by the Managing Director to the Office of the Managing Director (OMD).​

Nektar DAO
Members of the Nektar Decentralized Autonomous Organization ("Nektar DAO") can run, recommend and vote for the Managing Director. They can also directly govern and intervene in the affairs of the Agency.
